Hebei Youou Bridge Materials
Bridge Expansion Joints
Steel and rubber joint systems for bridge movement, waterproofing, load transfer and smooth traffic transition.
Product Overview
Bridge joints designed for movement, sealing and driving comfort
Bridge expansion joints are installed at bridge deck gaps to accommodate structural movement caused by temperature change, concrete shrinkage and creep, traffic load, earthquake, wind load and bridge geometry.
Hebei Youou supplies single seal steel joints, modular expansion joints and finger type expansion joints for highway bridges, municipal bridges, viaducts, ramps and bridge rehabilitation projects.
Core Functions
Why Bridge Expansion Joints Matter
Release Movement Stress
Bridge thermal expansion, concrete shrinkage and creep, vehicle load, earthquake and wind load can create longitudinal, transverse and vertical movement. Expansion joints release these stresses and help prevent beam cracking, bearing damage and abutment failure.
Improve Driving Comfort
A suitable joint system reduces vehicle bumping, deck impact and traffic noise, helping improve driving safety and comfort.
Waterproof Bridge Protection
Built-in rubber sealing strips block rainwater, mud and sand from entering the beam end, reducing steel corrosion and freeze-thaw damage.
Multi-Directional Movement
Suitable systems can accommodate longitudinal, transverse and vertical angle movement for straight bridges, skew bridges and curved bridges.
Main Types
Selection by Movement Range and Bridge Conditions
Finger Type Expansion Joint
- Models
- SSFB type
- Movement
- 80-400 mm
- Structure
- Two interlocking steel finger plates, anchor bolts and waterproof cushion layer
- Advantages
- Very low deck protrusion, low noise, high comfort and easier debris cleaning
- Applications
- Urban viaducts, residential-area bridges, landscape bridges and road sections requiring low noise
Modular Expansion Joint
- Models
- MZL / Maurer type modular joint
- Movement
- 160/240/320/400/480-1200 mm
- Structure
- Edge beam, center beam, displacement control box, support bearing, multiple rubber seals and integrated anchorage system
- Advantages
- High load capacity, multi-directional movement, durable waterproofing, smooth driving and heavy-load adaptation
- Applications
- Highways, continuous beams, large river bridges, viaducts and long-span municipal trunk roads
Single Seal Steel Expansion Joint
- Models
- GQF-C/F/D/Z/E, D40/D60/D80 commonly used
- Movement
- 40/60/80 mm
- Structure
- Profile steel, rubber sealing strip and anchoring reinforcement
- Advantages
- Simple structure, low height, economical cost and fast installation
- Applications
- Small and medium span simply supported beams, municipal bridges, rural roads, ramps and old bridge rehabilitation
Finger Type Joint
Low-noise joint for high-comfort road sections
Finger type expansion joints use interlocking steel plates to create a nearly continuous driving surface. This structure reduces bumping and noise, making it suitable for urban viaducts, residential areas and landscape bridge sections.
The open finger structure is also convenient for debris cleaning and maintenance inspection.
Modular Joint Installation
Heavy-load solution for highways and large bridges
Modular expansion joints use multiple center beams and displacement control components to divide large bridge movement into controlled movement units. They are suitable for continuous beams, long-span bridges and heavy traffic bridge decks.
Before production, please confirm movement range, bridge deck width, skew angle, anchorage details and project drawings.
