TST Asphalt Plug
TST Asphalt Plug
TST asphalt plug expansion joint is a flexible and waterproof bridge expansion joint system. It is composed of supporting steel plate, high-elastic adhesive material, single-graded crushed stone aggregate and filling material. The system replaces traditional expansion joint structures and forms a smooth, continuous and watertight transition surface for bridge decks.
Key Features
Engineered for waterproofing, elastic recovery and bridge deck movement.
High Elasticity
Adapts to bridge movement caused by temperature change, concrete shrinkage and creep, with elastic recovery.
Temperature Stability
Resists rutting at high temperatures and remains flexible at low temperatures.
Strong Bonding Performance
Bonds firmly with both sides of the joint and helps prevent interface failure.
Easy and Fast Installation
The construction process is simple and efficient, suitable for bridge maintenance and replacement projects with limited construction time.
Durability
Provides anti-aging and anti-corrosion performance for long-term bridge service.
Smooth Driving Surface
Forms a continuous transition surface that helps reduce vehicle jumping and driving noise.
Construction Process
A clear, step-by-step construction workflow ensures every TST project is installed accurately, safely, and ready for long-term use.
4. Main Layer Construction
Use clean, hard limestone crushed stone with good grading and compression performance. Heat the aggregate to 170-190°C, mix it with TST material and place it into the groove.
5. Surface Layer Construction
Mix heated surface aggregate with hot TST adhesive, lay it immediately on the main layer and compact it in time to prevent early damage.
6. Trimming and Finishing
Keep both edges straight with heat-resistant kraft paper tape. Heat the surface with a flame gun and finish it flat and smooth.
1. Groove Cutting
Determine the groove size according to bridge movement requirements. Mark the cutting line and cut the groove neatly to keep both sides parallel.
2. Cleaning and Drying
Clean the groove with a wire brush and air compressor. The bonding surface should be dry before filling. Heating with a flame gun can improve bonding performance.
3. Bottom Coating and Steel Plate Placement
After melting the TST material, coat the bottom and both sides of the groove evenly. Place a 2-4 mm steel plate in the center of the groove, then apply another layer of melted TST material.
Applications
Important Notes
• The groove depth should not be too shallow, otherwise the bonding strength may be insufficient.
• The groove must be cleaned thoroughly to remove dust, floating soil and loose particles.
• The groove must be dry before filling.
• Heating the bonding surface before construction helps improve adhesion.
• Construction should be completed while the material temperature is suitable to ensure compaction and bonding quality.
