Construction method for TST asphalt plug joints
According to the TST seamless expansion joint material, the system is composed of a supporting steel plate, high-elastic bonding material, single-stage crushed stone aggregate and stuffing material. It can be built in half-width sections, reducing traffic disruption during bridge maintenance.
- 1Prepare the joint area, install the supporting steel plate and backing material, and keep the bonding surface clean for firm adhesion.
- 2Apply the high-elastic TST bonding material, then place the crushed stone aggregate and filling material to form the plug joint.
- 3Level, heat-bond and compact the surface. After cooling, the joint can open to traffic quickly, typically about 2 hours after installation or about 1 hour with water-assisted cooling.
